What to do in the event of a collision

Knowledge is your best insurance
If you have an accident, the following information will help you report the details to the police and when you contact your insurance company.

Stay calm
Make sure no one is injured. If there are injuries, seek help immediately.

Report the accident to the police immediately
A police report will help you file a claim with your insurance company.

Make a sketch of the accident scene
A sketch of the site showing the position of all vehicles / people involved will be useful when reporting the details of the accident.

Use a cell phone or digital camera to take pictures that help enormously when trying to explain the circumstances of the accident.

Exchange essential information
Obtain essential information (name / address / telephone / insurance / etc.) from all parties involved - including witnesses.

Do not sign a towing authorization
Your vehicle may be covered by Roadside Assistance (see the explanation on page 1, Your rights as a Toyota owner). Anyway, we can do whatever is necessary to provide you with the services of a tow truck. Simply call 1 888 TOYOTA 8 (1 888 869-6828).

Contact your insurance company as soon as possible after the accident. Your insurer may try to direct you to a body shop to get an estimate of the cost of repairs. You are not obliged to agree to entrust your vehicle to this workshop.

Be sure to let your insurance company know that you expect the repair to be done with genuine Toyota body parts.

Be sure to let your insurance company know that you expect your vehicle to be returned to the state it was in before the accident at a Toyota Certified Body Center.
